Clarence James
Clarence James (b. 1991) was born in Stamford, CT and grew up in Raleigh, NC. He
attended Howard University and graduated with a business degree in 2014. Clarence is a
self-taught painter who began building his brand PVMT84 by spreading street art and
graffiti throughout the streets of DC and NYC. He began participating in group art shows,
organizing pop up shop installations and art exhibits for himself and collaboratively with his
peers. After a few years living and working in New York City, Clarence moved back to
Washington, DC where he currently works from his space in the historic 52 O St Studios.
He has done installations in Washington, DC with Homme DC, The White Room Studio, and
Raw Artists at Howard Theatre, Los Angeles, CA at the Kopeikin Gallery, New York City at
the HL 55 Gallery in the Chelsea arts district, art installations and murals Art Basel in Miami
(2016-2021) and several events in New York City including a solo show and pop-up store
installations in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. Clarence has worked with brands
including Fendi in coordination with their F is For… campaign, Nike Cultivators, Surf Lodge
and TinderSelect, to name a few.
